• How do I book my private fishing charter?
Booking your private fishing charter is easy!

Once you’ve decided which boat you’d like and how many hours you’d like to fish, simply email us at hello@fishrivieramaya.com or use our booking form.

If you’re unsure which boat or how many hours to choose, feel free to reach out — we’re happy to help you decide.

After we receive your request, we’ll check availability for your preferred date and get back to you, usually within 24 hours or less.

If the boat is available, we’ll send you a payment link for a 30% deposit, payable by credit card.

Once the deposit is received, your booking will be confirmed — it’s that simple!

  • Do you require a deposit?

Yes, we require a 30% deposit which is fully refundable in case of bad weather.

  • Do I need to buy fishing licences?

No. All required fishing licenses are already included in the charter price, so there is nothing additional you need to purchase.

  • Why do you charge a Dock fee?

Yes. All guests are required to pay a $15 USD dock fee per person. This fee covers marina facilities such as parking, restrooms, and internet access.

  • Where can I park my car?

Across the street from the Dolphin Discovery there is plenty of free parking available.

  • Do you offer shared tours?

No, all our fishing charters are 100% private..

  • What happens if the weather is bad?
The weather here in the Caribbean changes a lot and often! So even if you look at the weather forecast and see cloudy, windy, or not the greatest weather, do NOT despair! Here is why:
    •  Most weather forecasters get the weather wrong here. We're boating experts, and we always keep an eye on the up-to-the-minute weather using many sources.
    •  If anybody knows how a tour will turn out, it is us! We will let you know if the weather's too bad to go out.
    •  Perhaps at your resort, 20 minutes away, it's raining or cloudy, but here in Puerto Aventuras Marina, it is sunny. The weather is very local here.
    •  On the ocean, it is always sunnier than on land. It might be cloudy and drizzling over land, but once you get out on the water, it's sunny.
    •  If the weather is so bad that we decide not to go out, we will inform you the same day and try to reschedule your tour. If it's not possible to reschedule, we will, of course, refund you the money.
  • What is your cancelation policy?
First, contact us as quickly as possible to see if we can reschedule the tour for you. If rescheduling is not possible, the following cancellation fees apply:
    •  If cancelled more than one month prior to the scheduled charter, a cancellation fee equal to 10% of the total charter value will apply.
    •  If cancelled fewer than one month prior to the scheduled charter, the deposit is non-refundable.
    •  If the cancellation is due to the weather or our fault in any way we will refund you your deposit 100%.
  • Is transportation included?

No, but we can arrange private roundtrip transportation to pick you up at your location and bring you back after your tour has ended. You can read more about our transport services here.

If you decide to handle your own transportation, please arrive at least 15 minutes before your tour starts.

Here is a Google map so you can easily find your way. We will give you more information when you make your booking.

  • What type of fishing to do you offer?
We offer trolling for big fish like Marlin, SailFish, Wahoo and Mahi Mahis, as well as bottom fishing for Grouper, Snapper, and other delicious fish. Please check out our Fishing Info page for more details. We also offer snorkeling around the beautiful coral reefs.
  • What is included in my tour?
    •  All necessary licenses, bait, fishing equipment, snorkel equipment, and crew are included.
    •  You'll enjoy complimentary ice, water, soft drinks, a fresh fruit platter, and chips, along with ingredients for guacamole and ceviche. For our 6- and 8-hour tours, we provide ham and cheese sandwiches to keep you fueled for the day. If you would like to add any additional beverages like beers or alcohol, please let us know and we will do out best to have it ready for your charter.
    •  Gratuities are NOT included, but they are much appreciated. The average tipping percentage in the Riviera Maya service industry ranges from 10 to 20%.
    •  The $10 USD per person dock fee is not included and must be paid in cash upon arrival.
  • What should I bring on my fishing charter?
We try to make it as easy for you as possible, so you don't need to bring much. However, do bring sunglasses, a hat, eco-friendly sunscreen, a towel, and, most importantly, a Caribbean mood!
  • Can I bring my own food and drinks?
No, but If you would like to add any additional beverages like cold beers, alcohol or food, please let us know and we will do out best to have it ready for your charter get more information here
  • Is there a head (toilet) on the boat?
Yes, there is a restroom on the boat that is always clean for your convenience.
  • Is a catch guaranteed?
Even experienced fishermen know that fishing offers no guarantees—it’s called fishing, not catching! Despite having the best crew and equipment, catches depend on various factors like ocean conditions, weather, moon phases, and tides. We cannot promise a catch, and some days may result in no catch. Please keep this in mind when making a reservation, as we do not offer a ‘no catch-no pay’ policy.
  • What happens when I catch a fish?!?
You can choose to catch and release or keep it or also give it top the crew. Our crew will happily filet your catch and package it on ice upon your return. There are local spots around the marina within walking distance of the boats that can cook it for you.
  • What happens if I run late?
    •  Please hurry to arrive as soon as possible!
    •  We urge all our guests to plan ahead to be sure they arrive on time, preferably 15 minutes prior to tour departure time.
    •  This is because we often have two tours a day that run back-to-back, and we need to start our tours on time.
    •  That means if you arrive an hour late, you can still go on your tour, but you will lose an hour of your time.
    •  If you are late due to our transportation running late, we will extend the tour or reimburse you.
  • I tend to get seasick - What do you recommend?
    •  We always try to choose routes with the least amount of waves to get a smooth ride, and it's always up to the clients if they wish to return to sheltered areas in the event someone in the group gets sick. We are very lucky to have several destination options with calmer waters in case of sea sickness.
    •  If the sea is too rough to fish, we have an amazing inlet that has crystal clear, chest-deep, completely flat water that is great for relaxing and snorkeling.
    •  We always advise all clients, especially those prone to motion sickness, to take a pill like Dramamine beforehand. Dramamine tends to work the best and has no side effects.

Better to be safe than sorry!
  • We have a baby/child – Can they come along?
All of our tours are family-friendly. We have life vests in very small sizes so children can come on board. On board there’s an area that is shaded where you can be with your baby or child. However, please note that you will need to take complete responsibility for your baby or child.
